Accepted to Holy Trinity and OLV

Anonymous
We live basically equidistant from both schools. We all loved both communities for different reasons, although we felt more of a pull toward OLV because the parents/overall environment felt more down to earth/more of our vibe. But thought both communities seemed like loving, warm places where our child would get a solid education. And neither has much of an actual yard but they both seem to make the best of it.

Has anyone had to make similar decision? If so, which did you choose and why?

Multi-year/multi-child OLV alum parent. We had the same choice and went with OLV with zero regrets.

We just thought it was a better overall fit for our kids and family. Much more relaxed vibe, and looking ahead, its support to get kids into the high school of their choice is excellent.

Only downside is the athletic facilities are lacking, but the CYO efforts are great, and many families (including ours) had supplemental activities outside of school.

Hope this helps.

When did you hear from Holy Trinity? We still haven’t heard. We’re parishioners.

You can't go wrong with HTS. It's got a wonderful and highly involved parent community, amazing teachers and all around great kids.

We love OLV! It’s been great for both of my kids who are very different - one a natural student and one who needed a little extra support. OLV has three Blue Ribbons, the most of any ADW parish, and academics are emphasized. It’s smaller, which we were worried about, but we really like knowing every kid and their families. Our principal and vice principal are great and lead a wonderful set of teachers. We’d love a bigger gym, but the CYO sports are great and a fun way to meet people (OLV participates in CYO soccer and HT doesn’t, for some reason). I believe both do cross-country, basketball and track. Since young kids can play soccer, that’s a great way to meet other families. There are also fun events like Trunk or Treat, Breakfast with Santa and a few adults-only events.

Holy Trinity's Jesuit perspective is what sold us on enrolling our student in K years ago! She since has graduated and attends a Catholic HS. We have another child currently at HTS and continue to be impressed by the level of teacher support and the diverse community.
