Are people buying new clothes just for picture days?

Curious to see how many parents buy new clothes for picture day.

Probably not. Except for the great photographer that took pics in my kids' preschool, and for which my kids wore nice clothes (but not new), the public school picture day isn't worth dressing up for. Most of the time I don't remember when it is. Now my youngest is in high school, and chooses a nice top on that day because the photo is used for her school ID she needs to show every day to get into the building. My son couldn't have cared less.

No. I'll also suggest and provide a fancier shirt but if my kid chooses differently, I'll let him pick.

I tried to buy a new top for my boys each year for picture day. Then that top became their best dress-up top for the year.

My kids hate shopping. I particularly had trouble with my younger one. I've had three fails with him. Once he insisted on wearing a club t-shirt, once he wore an undershirt because the dress shirt was too chilly and yet he unbuttoned the dress shirt so the undershirt showed, and once he wouldn’t buy a shirt or wear one of his own but he would wear one of his brother's.

I get some compliance by warning them that bad pictures will trigger retake day. Also pictures are my Christmas presents to me and to grandmas. That helps.

Next year is my younger one's senior picture year. Wish me luck.

Yes I do. New, but not necessarily expensive.

Lol, of course not

Absolutely not. For family photos, maybe. But, not for school photos.

Based on the countless class pictures we’ve gotten I would say no. I usually forget it’s picture day

Sometimes picture day will prompt me to review my kid's clothes and, if things are getting a little snug/short, or just looking really worn out, I'll buy some new clothes. They aren't "for" picture day, but it's just a useful time to assess wardrobes and see what needs updating.

No. We let them pick their own clothes.

No, we have enough clothes that we don’t need to buy something new for pictures.

No, my DD just pics her fave outfit.

If you're just doing senior pictures offered by a public school, it's quite typical they'll be wearing clothes provided by the photographer (black drape or tux, cap and gown).
