Travel to EU in week ahead with a war?

Anonymous
Have a work trip to conferences in Italy and Switzerland early next week, but not so sure. Bunch of folks have cancelled after the events that have unfolded today. It wouldn’t be the end of the world to not attend, but both events are held once a year. I was never worried about travel during the previous war in Iraq, but this time feels different.

Thoughts from the armchair (and real) experts here?

Do you need a geography refresher? Western Europe is not Eastern Europe, and it's definitely not the Middle East.

There is absolutely no reason for Iran to attack Europe, when it knows full well that Israel and the US were solely responsible for starting this w

war.

Iran's leadership was just decimated, they've got their hands full, and they will want to concentrate their ire on US bases in the Middle East. Indeed, they have to, before those bases destroy their stockpiles. It's a race to who shoots first over there. Iran doesn't have missiles to spare for Europe and it knows there is no upside to more Allied involvement.

Right now I'm wondering about a trip to ME in April, but haven't cancelled yet.

I would fly to Europe next week, no concerns.

I definitely wouldn’t travel to the Middle East in April.

I’m going to Nebraska in a few weeks but am worried about war in the Middle East. Should I cancel? Seems risky.

My H has traveled to India when there are things going on between them and Pakistan. What it resulted in was a longer flight from Europe to India as the plane could not fly through Pakistani airspace. If you were asking about travel to India or the Middle East, I'd say look at daily reports and reevaluate as necessary. For Italy and Switzerland, I'd say you are 95% okay...not 100%, but that's international travel. There's always a small risk when leaving the country.

I'm going to Ukraine to see my family again this summer, so...I say Switzerland is fine.

It's fine. When isn't there some nonsense happening in the Middle East?

I'm flying to the Netherlands tomorrow and also for work. It is a strange feeling. I know the risks are no greater than before but the events do bring out the desire to be at home and close to everyone I know. Anyway, am still going.

Am I ok traveling to Banff and Glacier later this year

Is this a war? Administration people keep calling it war and then saying it's not a war. They are such liars, it's tough to know what to think.

Probably not, likely both will be wiped off the map by then. Too close to the action.
