Activities section - hours spent per week if inconsistent, multiday meets

Anonymous
DD is on a team where they have 5 or so meets each session, most at least a few hours away. The meets are two days each and the team usually camps together the night in between. How would you describe the hours participating in this activity during those weeks?

My kids just averaged it out for activities that didn’t meet a consistent number of hours a week. For example, for soccer, my son usually played 7 hours a week for one team but had 5-6 tournaments a year and did supplemental training so he put in way more than 7 hours when averaged. For newspaper, sometimes it was 3 hours a week and sometimes it could be 10+ so my kids also did their best to average. I’m sure there are kids who will just go with the highest number. There’s a lot of exaggeration happening.

Forgot to mention that travel time was not included, just time at the field/facility.

You report number of hours and number of weeks-so it could be 14 hrs/week for 5 weeks.

Or add to the regular week average as pp suggests. I wouldn’t count travel time not camping unless it’s part of the activity (outdoor club).

Definitely no to travel time or hangout time.

Averaging fields strange but it is the most appropriate way to do it.
