New HoS named at Holy Child

I didn’t even know they were in a search for one. The new head is Dr. Julia Maurer.

The current head left a lot to be desired. Very weak leader.

Yup. Very weak and unimpressive. Plus a literal baby factory.

She put those Catholic values into action for sure. She has a very quiet, demure Mommy voice. She does not exude confidence when she speaks.

How does everyone feel about the incoming head?

Does anyone really care? HC is really the landing place for girls who can’t get into SR or Visi. Their sports are mediocre. Field hockey has been successful due in part to one girl who is talented. Basketball has been a flop for eons, despite having players go on to play in college. The head coach for years FINALLY stepped down after never accomplishing anything. Such a failure she is. Nothing but a mean girl, bully who can’t inspire a team to accomplish anything. Running an athletics program continually into the ground. Maybe the new head will get rid of her and have hopes and dreams for a school that inspires kindness.

HC parent here. New head will be great. Brings a lot to the table including strong STEM background, which is huge. I disagree with just about everything the PP said (my daughter got into all of the schools you mentioned but chose HC) but won't derail this thread about the new Head with that.

Seems odd that you wrote a entire paragraph to reply to something that, according to you, no one should care about.

Maybe just skip the threads that you don't care about instead of saying mean things about teenage girls.

I am considering Holy Child and would love to hear more about your experience. Are you happy with the school? Are the girls nice? How hard is the grading?

Also interested to hear more about the academic experience for kids who are ready for more challenge.

My daughter is a current student there. She does not have any accommodations and is currently in AP classes as well as a dual enrollment science class (so she will receive actual college credit). She has been challenged academically and very happy at the school - there is a place for everyone and I truly feel it's a happy place

Thanks PP. There’s so much discussion of learning support (which is great for those who need it) that it’s hard to get a sense of how big a piece of the pie that is across the student body and program as a whole if you’re a student who does not currently need it.
