Do any of the private schools conduct these? If so, what grade do the tests happen and what is the info used for?

In a different metro, the top 1 school administers an IQ test to applicants for 1st grade. There is no K or pre-K at that school. They are seeking applicants with aptitude to learn.

| I’ve heard of some schools asking for the results of tests as part of the application, but you have to get that done privately. I haven’t heard of any schools in the area that actually administer these kinds of tests to their students. |
| When we considered applying to Sidwell's pre- for our child a bit over a decade ago, an IQ test was a standard part of the application. We would have had to obtain it privately, it was not administered by the school. Glad that it seems to no longer be required, it was a real turn-off, given that our child was 3 years old at the time!! |

| My private catholic did it in 8th grade |
| Some schools still require the WPPSI/WISC as part of the application process. |
| Kid's school does something a bit more achievement focused, but they'll take an IQ test if you have it on offer. It's useful information to determine fit. |
Which school is that |
I would question the validity and reliability of results of any tests administered en mass to students by a school. |
