Let me start with I'm not a fan of GoFundMes under normal circumstances.
Thanks to social media showing me random posts that I have no ties to I see a sob story about a kid killed in an accident and family's GoFundMe. Two seconds of Googling shows that the driver of the side by side was his drunk Dad who is in jail and charged with homicide & drunk driving. So the GoFundMe is likely for his criminal defense. Just disgusting. |
| Just be glad this isn’t your reality. |
| Everyone is entitled to a defense. |
| Report it |
They aren't claiming to raise money for the criminal defense they are just completely leaving that part out of the story. As though the Dad wasn't responsible for the child's death. |
| You need to report this to them. |
A defense in which attorneys try hard to suppress incriminating information? |
Yes, of course. That’s the job of a criminal defense attorney. The constitution guarantees nothing less. |
|
Report it and let GFM determine if it violates any rules.
What a tragedy for the rest of the family. |
The Mom is the one perpetuating the lack of information about the accident so it makes her seem complicit in the whole thing. |
| Side by sides should be illegal too. |
|
You can’t use GFM to fund legal services. This sounds like a horrific situation, and there probably are financial needs. Not very many men are SAHDs so there is surely lost income.
I have no sympathy for drunk drivers, but the survivors shouldn’t be judged for their family member’s crimes. I would just MYOB |
That would indirectly fund a legal defense. |
| I won't donate to GoFundMes, even if they are in my community. I would rather send the family a gift card directly. |
Go fund me does not allow criminals defense campaigns. |
