changes at Kenwood Animal Hospital - Dr. Ciampa left?

Anonymous
We were longtime patients of Dr. Ciampa's at Kenwood Animal Hospital for two cats, one with complicated medical issues. It appears she has left the practice. The practice won't say why and there is nothing on the website. There wasn't even an announcement - found out when we went to book an appointment and she was not an option. The other vets are fine but I would really like to stay with her for the complicated cat if she is practicing in the area.

I couldn't find anything on Google.

If anyone happens to know, would appreciate it.

I don’t know if it’s some requirement medical/vet practices have. Our longtime vet also left from another clinic and no one would tell us where she went. Nothing on the internet either. I assume she retired, but I don’t know why it seemed to be a state secret.

Thanks. Yeah, I imagine there is some kind of non-compete agreement. I cannot imagine she retired as she was probably early 40s at most with young kids. I guess she could have decided not to work for non-retirement reasons but it seems like they could have said that.

I assumed a terrible personal medical diagnosis for her or a child but who knows why she's been gone many many months now. She was incredible for our family so I hope she comes back.

I'm honestly surprised by how entitled you all sound but I guess that's Bethesda for you. No matter the relationship you thought you had with this doctor or any doctor, you are not entitled to know their personal business. Medical professionals have a right to step away from work no matter the reason and owe no one an explanation. Touch grass people please.

You're just so nasty. People are worried about her, and assume she liked her patients' families as much as they liked her, and therefore, due to that bond, they're unhappy that the practice is not sharing anything.

Or they may want to follow her if she has gone to another clinic. It's the same as with a gynecologist. It was hard finding out where the Foxhall ObGyn ones went.

Medical professionals usually feel bad for leaving their patients in the lurch and wish they could contact them too! But when they don't own their own practices, they often are legally barred from doing so.

Shame on you, PP. Your mind is so twisted and evil.

I asked because I’m interested in following her to her new practice if she’s local. Not because I want to know her personal business. Geez.

Born and raised in Bethesda. In my world it's normal to check on a doctor's well being, send holiday cards, ask after them. Patients go to doctors' funerals and vice versa. Old Bethesda doesn't demand explanations, or try to dictate when or where people work. I agree with you about new Bethesda's sense of entitlement but your comment is just weird.

Had similar in past with them and later found the vet at another location nearby.
