| Do you have kids who attend or attended school or currently work in the Bay Area? What kind of feedback have they shared about life on the West Coast? |
| Slower than east coast |
| "it's laid back" |
| They love it. Don’t want to come back to the east coast. |
|
Californians don't pull out their credit card in advance when they are in line at the grocery store and it takes them ages to fiddle around to pay.
|
| Not the Bay Area but my DC loves being on the West Coast. Does wish he had a car. |
So? The whole "slow" vibe thing? |
That’s a senior observation. San Francisco Bay Area is experiencing a rapid increase in its senior population, making it one of the oldest and fastest-aging regions in the United States, third only to areas in Florida. The senior population (65+) is growing quickly, while the youth and middle-aged population has stagnated or declined. |
| My NYC kid on the west coast is really enjoying it. He likes the weather and also the start-up culture. The pace with which new technologies are created and absorbed is surprising. He was not a tech or startup kind of kid when he went there but loves the energy and focus on building something rather than wanting to work for someone. He did not know of such options before he went there since we are in finance and so are most of our friends. Also loves hiking and biking all year around. He might come back to be close to family but he is very grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the other coast. He was anxious when he was in HS but seems more relaxed and calmer now, maybe its the good weather. |
Who’s pulling out credit cards anymore? Californians use Apple Pay. |
Even those seniors? |
| West Coasters don't want to be defined by their job. They want to be considered interesting, and accomplished in their leisure pursuits. |
| My DD loves attending college in the Bay Area. She especially loves the weather, chill vibe, being able to explore many places on the West Coast (SF, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Carmel By The Sea) |
| Everything in this entire thread to date is incorrect....what a bunch of unserious mental midgets. |
What is incorrect, guru? |
