Struggling today

Anonymous
Apologies if this is in the wrong place. Just feel like I should say this out loud. I had a career that ended many years ago where I didn’t achieve my goals through my own bad behavior that hurt my family. I have to do some retirement related paperwork and it dredging everything up for me again.

I’m not asking for sympathy and I know I only have myself to blame. Just wish me a little strength to hold everything together so I can keep how I’m feeling inside from my family. They don’t deserve to relive this again.

Hugs to you, OP.

I am also struggling today. And while it's not the reason I'm currently struggling, a while back I left a career path that was otherwise very fulfilling because I could not find a way to resolve an interpersonal conflict. It's a source of shame and regret.

You are stronger than you know. We all have failures. You are bigger than this one thing and you family is lucky to have you.

Hang in there. This too shall pass. Be gentle with yourself. Sending positive thoughts and wishing you strength.

I'm so sorry this is getting dredged up for you.

I have similar regrets. You aren't alone.

Retirement is a new chapter.

Make use of that phase of your life to craft a different, but still important contribution to the world or your family. You will have the freedom to focus on what you currently realize matters most.

Look forward…

Stay strong, OP. You may have misbehaved in the past, but this does not define you. You can act with dignity today and help you redefine who you are to yourself.

Thank you everyone. Sitting at my desk chopping onions.

On the money, my wife doesn’t know it, but it’s getting deposited into her account.

Why? What are you saying? Why doesn't she know it? You are doing okay, right?

Sorry, to be clearer, I’m having all of my retirement proceeds from that career deposited into her account. She doesn’t know I’ve done that.
