I have small fiber neuropathy in my legs, and the snug elastic on socks is very uncomfortable. I don't need compression socks - those make things worse. I just need socks that stay up w/o tight elastic. Is there such a thing? I have been looking for nice-quality all cotton socks, but they seem so hard to find these days.
What have you tried? My head goes to something like Nike or DSG crew socks.
I just snip the elastic slightly with nail scissors (or other fine scissors); try with cheaper socks until you get the hang of it. You can snip at the top vertically or slightly below the very top make little horizontal snips. The idea is just to loosen the elastic. I only do the top with socks that will be covered by pants. The horizontal snips tend to be imperceptible.
PP again (11:11). All cotton is nearly impossible to find, I agree!
try white cotton diabetes socks.
Look at ThorLo running socks. Ankle high, cald high. Not all cotton but cotton is terrible in hot weather. No wicking.
Thank you ! Going to try this on a few pairs I already own. |
BleuforĂȘt has some. Called roll top. I get the wool ones lined with cotton but they slso have roll top full cotton ones.

I find women's Gold Toe turn cuff cotton anklets to be comfortable when new and sometimes saggy when old. So they are not a tight sock in my opinion.
There are low cut versions that have no shaft. And there are calf sock versions. Amazon has lots of variety but I see these at local big box stores. JC Penneys ads are also coming up for them. |
Walgreens diabetic socks, super comfy.
I love my Bombas merino wool socks - they are gentler on the ankles than regular socks
