Postcard from Sidwell - 9th grade admissions

Did others receive a student-written postcard from Sidwell for their 9th grade applicant? Received a couple months ago after shadow visit. Wonder if they send those to everyone.

Yes, everyone who did a shadow say received one.

Yes. DC got these from every school they shadowed, plus a couple after open houses. Very common.

I think everyone got one, but not sure. We did last year and kid got in but it was so soon after the visit that I can’t believe it meant anything about whether or not he would be accepted

My son got one. What a nice touch! He didn’t shadow, he did the in person group activity/interview and testing.

I believe students hosting are required to write one. At my child's school, handing in the handwritten post card was the mechanism for getting "credit" for being a host.

I don’t think so at Sidwell. My kid has hosted several kids and hasn’t had to write any cards. He also doesn’t get any credit for hosting though.

+1 Exact same for my Sidwell 9th grader. They did receive a postcard last year and just recently met the student who sent it.

My DC’s postcard was from the admissions office around mid January. Potomac sent a holiday card. Nice touch.
