Perimenopause and working

Anonymous
How are you all dealing with perimenopause symptoms while keeping and excelling at professional jobs?

I wake up at 3 am and cannot go back to sleep. I have brain fog and I can’t seem to form coherent sentences.

How am I supposed to succeed at work??

I don't know if you're joking or not but I think most people understand what's happening with women in their 40s and 50s and give them grace or I hope so.

This would be ideal but I’m not sure it happens regularly in the real world. On top of that, with all this going on, I am now working with childless women young enough to be my daughter. These women are also kicking my butt when it comes to performance. I’m barely hanging on.

It’s really depressing and I’m still 12 years away from retirement so I’m looking forward to this for more than a decade more.

And I’m on HRT.

I was going to post — excelling?

I had to get on HRT because I could not do math equations that were part of my daily work.

The HRT really helped my brain.

Are you joking? They absolutely do not.

My symptom has been profusely sweating. Like, the tiniest exertion causes heavy, smelly sweating. I talked to the gyn about HRT and other options and on 1/31 started generic Paxil which is supposed to, as a side effect, help with sweating. Still waiting!

No, that’s not my experience. But on the other hand, the work place is full of mediocre and sub mediocre people of all ages. I just need to be at least on par with them.
