Multivitamin

I’m looking at Mary Ruth brand multivitamins for my 8yo.

He’s having some skin issues, and it occurred to me that he hasn’t been routinely taking a multivitamin for a while. We dropped the habit. Yeah, his eyes look a little tired more often… I think I just want to get him back on with some nutritional support.

Any Mary Ruth suggestions?? Other suggestion??

I want a very whole vitamin..hitting upon immune support and/or just everything he might be missing in food

How’s his diet? Multi vitamins are a waste for most. Even without totally balanced diet, a lot of foods kids do eat are fortified. Vitamin D is the only one worth supplementing

You don't live in Sudan. No one in the United States needs vitamins.

He’s normally not picky. None of my kids turn down food. But I’ve noticed he chooses from dinner/lunch offerings like only 1-2 items from the table.

Lately he’s going through a “sort of picky” phase. Eating all food groups but waaay less eating of vegetables and meats

He’s fine. No multivitamin

Talk to your pediatrician if you're worried he has a genuine deficiency.

It’s worse raising skin issues and tiredness with your ped. Start a symptom journal too. Low-grade, persistent symptoms are difficult to diagnose and can take several visits. It’s rarely nutritional in origin or easily solvable with supplements.

Our Doctor recommended a multivitamin for our kid after he broke his arm twice in a year. He eats well, drinks milk, and is outside a lot, he broke his arm falling weirdly in tag and then playing soccer. Stuff happens. It is a daily gummy that may help. It is not the end all and be all, he eats balanced meals but it is a support. (shrugs)

We just use Centrum Teen Vitamins.

First day is the only brand my kid can tolerate.

I think a varied diet, sufficient calories, and sufficient sleep are more important. I prioritize those, and also give a multivitamin, but not at the max amount. So if the recommended dose is 4 gummies or 2 tablets, we might only do 1 gummy, or 1/2 tablets every day or a few times per week.

^ I forgot to mention that so much food is now fortified. We tend to get bread, cereal, and milk that don’t have added vitamins and minerals, but if he eats Cheerios with about D/A milk, no vitamin that day.

I give the Smarty Pants kids plus multi+omegas.
