Top students at Ivy+ and SLACs have the edge, per various lists. Not surprising, since they're generally the strongest students and best test takers.
DC went the SLAC route, feeling close advising was important, but too soon to know how it will work out. |

| Doesn’t matter, if you are good you will get there. If not, you won’t. The process will keep you honest. BS won’t get you much. |

| Students that attend colleges associated with prominent medical complexes will have an advantage with research and internships. So - Harvard, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Emory, Johns Hopkins, Rice, Penn, Stanford, Duke. Students from those schools typically have excellent medical school placement. |

| You can always check the particular college and find or ask about their med school placement rate. Warning though, some of the kids who get in do a post bac year and I'm not sure if this is reflected in the placement rate. |

| It’s all about how much the student wants to be a doctor and their ability to see it through. A Harvard education won’t help anyone with medical school if the desire and grades/scores aren’t there: There are tons of doctors who went to large state flagships and lesser known private colleges for undergrad out there. |

This isn’t true as the top SLACs place much higher percentages into both med school in general and top med schools than pretty much every other group. The only comparable schools are the top Ivy+ schools. All of the schools listed above are excellent but they don’t have real advantages. For some schools, going there undergrad actually hurts for med school attendance at that school. |
