| I legally changed my last name last year. My driver's license is already in my new name, but I have not yet gotten around to changing my passport. I have booked an international flight in my old name (same as in the passport) in six weeks from now. I am panicking that I should request a new passport (expedited) and update the flight booking. What do you recommend? I am a naturalized citizen and don't want issues at the airport. |
| If you have a valid passport in your old name, and the booking is in the same name, you are fine. Just use your passport to check-in and go through security. |
| Don't use your DL at security/checking in. A passport is an acceptable form of ID. |
| Does she need to show that she has the Real ID on her drivers. |
1. Google is your friend. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification 2. If she shows a valid passport, a Real ID drivers license is not needed. Most of the world functions on passports, not local drivers licenses. |
| They will know at TSA that she has two last names and will ask her about it. This happened to me after my name change. |
A valid passport by itself is Real ID. |
| I traveled to Italy last Fall with a passport and ticket booked in my maiden name. It's fine. |
| You don't even need a driver's license to travel or do anything (other than drive) if you have a passport. |
