Driver's license in new name, passport and flight booking in old name

Anonymous
I legally changed my last name last year. My driver's license is already in my new name, but I have not yet gotten around to changing my passport. I have booked an international flight in my old name (same as in the passport) in six weeks from now. I am panicking that I should request a new passport (expedited) and update the flight booking. What do you recommend? I am a naturalized citizen and don't want issues at the airport.

If you have a valid passport in your old name, and the booking is in the same name, you are fine. Just use your passport to check-in and go through security.

Don't use your DL at security/checking in. A passport is an acceptable form of ID.

Does she need to show that she has the Real ID on her drivers.

1. Google is your friend.

2. If she shows a valid passport, a Real ID drivers license is not needed. Most of the world functions on passports, not local drivers licenses.

They will know at TSA that she has two last names and will ask her about it. This happened to me after my name change.

A valid passport by itself is Real ID.

I traveled to Italy last Fall with a passport and ticket booked in my maiden name. It's fine.

You don't even need a driver's license to travel or do anything (other than drive) if you have a passport.
