My DH and I are looking to schedule a long weekend getaway, 3 or maybe even 4 nights, to celebrate the sale of a house.
Preferably drivable or short flight from DC. But bonus points for drivable, even if the drive is long. Atmosphere, historic hotels with a good spa, good food, a healthy arts scene, quaint shopping, etc. all super welcome. Just not New Orleans (I love NOLA, but used to live there and get back with some regularity, so looking for something different). Recent short trips we have enjoyed include Fallingwater and the Omni Bedford Springs (decent resort for where it is, 10/10 spa), and The Williamsburg Inn at Colonial Williamsburg. So I guess we like history? |

That’s not drivable, or within a short plane ride lol. Looking for a long weekend not a full trip. |
| Asheville, Charleston, Savannah. Long drives but fairly easy. |
| Providence and Newport! |
| Charleston, SC |

Closer- Charlottesville, Staunton, Harpers Ferry, Annapolis
Wilmington- 6-7 hour drive |
| Also look into the various historic towns along the Hudson River valley. |
This might be the winner! |
| Charleston. |
| The Lodge at Primland in VA has a spa, great restaurants, outdoor activities. |

You are going to think I am nuts but I love Baltimore for this.
People love Charleston but the two times I was there I just keep thinking about the enslaved people who did all the work. |
| Pittsburgh |
Yes, Savannah, Ga. Beautiful, historic, greatest ice cream in the world. |
