I have a coworker who just doesn't seem to pay attention to what she writes and sends off and it creates so much more work for everyone else. She will make mistakes with her words like "is" vs "isn't" in important contexts like saying "Client isn't available for a meeting today" but she meant to say "client is available for a meeting today" so no one calls client and they're now angry feeling ignored. Or just emailing general jumbled thoughts where others have to ask for several clarifications when between any other coworkers that would have been a quick message to move something along.
It has caused 4 separate issues this week and is frankly annoying. I just got a string of emails from her saying "Client C needs to add more business with us" "***doesn't need to add- oops!" "So can you call them to tell them?" And then I attempted to call her and she didn't answer so I emailed can you please clarify if they are expanding their business with us or not and what do you need communicated to them exactly? Then got back Sorry! Yes and they need help. Thanks for handling it! Would you address this with her or her manager? |
| Oof, that's bad. Do you guys have the same manager? |
| That's crazy. If you have the same manager, you should raise it to that person. If not, then raise it to your manager to raise to the other person's manager. |

Sounds like a literal learning disability and she’s in the wrong role if her job is communicating information between people.
I’d keep track of when it happens and bring it up to your manager. Maybe there’s another role better suited to her actual skills. |

My first and second-line sups are like this and it drives me INSANE. They do this at least 1-2x a week. Things move quickly in my office, I get it, but they create more work by writing things too quickly, or based on misinterpretation/misreading than if they just slowed down a bit.
I reclarify what they're asking frequently, probably to an annoying degree to them, but otherwise it creates more fallout. ie. "Confirming you're asking me to do X?" and sometimes they'll be like "Oh no actually I wanted Y." It's the only thing that seems to work. |
