The Tineo Prep TikTok account has a good overview of Vandy ED2.

In short, he says this year has been a big swing to max stats and away from precedent focus on leadership, service, full pay, etc.

FWIW, DC with 1580 single sitting, 3.8UW, multiple AP 5s, private with very unique ECs was rejected. No hooks.

Would have been nice to work out, but their top choice is far preferable and still in play. Fingers crossed!

CCO readout on ED2 results for Vanderbilt appears to be the following:

-TO is dead unless meeting multiple institutional needs - donor/legacy/FGLI AND something else (awards/accolade/other desirable attribute or undersubscribed major)
- not looking for old school EC leadership; narrative coherence and academic spike is important now; research or dedicated project also helpful
- focused ECs; not well rounded or wide ranging
- high (perfect) gpa matters more than rigor provided narrative alignment with HS class selection

You definitely don’t need the “something else” if a donor.

How much did you give and did you go through the development office? Last year several DMV kids we know bought their spots. Vandy loves big donations .

Not me. Someone at school. And yes they did this a few years ago with older (more qualified) child - and it was more than six figures with a larger pledge. This kid was TO in a STEM field and may have lacked a compelling app.

I have always said that in the "A in the regular class or B in honors" is an easy one. A in regular. You need a lot of As in honors, but it's fine to go "down" in your weakest area to preserve the UW GPA. if you're a history major, it's fine to get an A in Calc (and not an A in AP Calc) and if you're a STEM person, it's fine to get an A in history (and not a B in AP history).

It’s a trend that continues.

How have public school kids done at Vandy so far this year?

Specifically, super high stats (4.0 and 1550+), showed interest with visit, but not hooked and no obvious donor potential (full pay but not conspicuously wealthy.)
