| With this cold, dry AF air, my skin has been extra dry. Like my face peels from makeup. I haven't been able to use my tretinoin either. My kids scratched their chins on the ice so I put vaseline on it and figured I'd try it on my face. My skin is normal, but dry in the winter. I noticed an overnight difference! It made it plumper and less dry. I started using tretinoin again and wearing my makeup. I do have to put it on at least an hour before bed or else it may ruin my pillow case. Just a thought in case anyone is experience really dry skin! It has not made me break out at all. |
| Aquaphor is better |
+1. Just was going to write this. |
| I use coconut oil (the tiniest bit) under my eyes. As a kid when I went skiing my mom put Vaseline on my lips, tip of my nose and under my eyes. |
| No thanks. |
| I prefer to keep my skin hydrated with lots of fresh water, collagen sheet masques, and keeping the humidity in my house around 48%. |
|
I use Vaseline, too. It's so helpful this time of year.
I can't go near any Aquaphor products. I know people love it, but it breaks me out horribly. |

Vaseline is a 100% occlusive skin barrier that WILL block your pores, so please wash your face and put hydrating moisturizer in the evening. You will end up with clogged pores otherwise. Only use it when you cannot do otherwise, like in very dry, harsh, cold winds.
Aquaphor is a semi-occlusive skin barrier and moisturizer, so somewhat more breathable, but not for people prone to blackheads, pimples, etc. There are many excellent non-occlusive moisturizers out there these days. For great skin, you need: - hyaluronic acid serum or other super hydrating gel or serum. - cream moisturizer with ceramides that preserve that hydration but without clogging pores. You need the second layer otherwise the hydration will just evaporate in dry conditions. Avene and La Roche-Posay are two excellent French brands that carry lines for reactive or sensitive skin, in case you're in that group. |
| I do a layer of cicalfate balm on top of my cream moisturizer in the winter. |
| I love Avene ciccalfate for my dry sensitive skin. |
| Aquaphor has saved me this winter. Especially on my lips. |
| Dermatologists swear by Vaseline and Aquaphor. These aren't petroleum but patrolatum and fine to use on face, more so if you have dry and aging skin. |
| I’ve put Vaseline on my face before skiing a few times. It really helps me avoid windburn |
