Student Rights & Responsibilities Updates?

Has anyone looked at the survey for the updated SR&R? I can't tell offhand what's been updated to provide feedback. Anyone closer to this who knows?

The survey is open Feb. 9-20 for community feedback too FYI.

What are the proposed changes to the SR and R? The survey makes that as clear as mud. I highly question whether Gatehouse actually uses survey data to make decisions, so I didn’t waste my time.

Soft on discipline starts early and continues throughout the journey.

The survey is to remive flexibility for discipline from principals who know the kids, to a one size fits all district punishment system where everyone hets the exact same punishment based on the name of the infraction.

It is a ridiculous change.

+1. 4th grade and 8th grade should not be on the same discipline matrix either.

Same old story, second verse. I remember "zero tolerance." That is what this sounds like. Had a dire result.

Good. There are 200 principals. We don't need 200 different philosophies on discipline running around. One size fits all is perfectly fine.

Agree with consistency, only problem is they chose the philosophy that rewards bad behavior by having little to no accountability for that behavior.

Even just on this thread so far, we’ve had people saying the new/proposed policies are too soft and others saying they are too harsh and take away flexibility … which one is it?

I will always favor a uniform set of policies and uniform standards though. So that aspect of it seems like a good idea. Now if only they would make grading uniform at all the Ms/HS. It’s all one district …

They have done this. All HS classes are weighted 70% summative and 30% formative. Next year, all teachers will have to use a rolling gradebook. They standardized the late work policy (you have 2 weeks and it's 10% off).
