Short story subscription box for college student?

My DD is 5’0” and generally a size 6-8. She is at college in a much more northern state and needs clothes. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have a car and the mall is a $20 uber ride away and few stores have petite sections anymore.

She tried StitchFix like some of her hall mates, but everything needs hemming. The Short Story (petite subscription box) looks promising. But she asked me to check “that mom board” before she commits.

Has anyone tried the Short Story? Would it be reasonable for a college student? Age appropriate, not too expensive for the pieces etc?

It’s possible this could be a gift thing, if the quality is worthwhile.

I get short story and my DD tried it twice and kept a few pieces. We both asked for similar type items but because of difference in ages, we both received very different items. It’s nice to know that stylists do keep age in mind. Her roommate tried it too and found the best jeans ever. But like everything else, the more specific you are in what you seek, the better the results will be. It is nice not having to get clothing altered.

Middle aged mom here, and I just ordered my first box this week! I also couldn’t find a thing that fit on stitch fix. Happy to report back after I get my first shipment.

Got my box today. I haven’t tried anything on yet. But first impression: the jeans are high rise and I specifically said I hated high rise and they are two sizes smaller than what I usually wear. Two of the shirts and one dress are very matronly looking and I can’t imagine would flatter anyone. One shirt and one dress look like they have potential.

I know my favorite dress was a gift from my mom that I swore I would never wear since it was Chico’s. But it is weirdly flattering- so I tend towards the try everything philosophy now

Above poster here. I am keeping one item, a dress and sent very specific feedback for the next box. I have to admit, I was on the hunt last year for a black jumpsuit. Impossible to find in petites. I sucked it up and ordered one from Chico’s. It’s perfect. However, can’t bring myself to go back in there.
I’ll report back next month.
