| Hi, new parent to independent schools here! I was curious about which independent schools in the area have dining rooms and lunch programs. Is lunch included in tuition? Is lunch part of an in-house program or brought in? What has the quality of lunch options been like if your child has allergies? Thank you! |

At our kid’s K-8, there’s a cafeteria for the middle school. Lunch is included. I’m sure they accommodate allergies.
For the lower school, they either bring lunch or there’s a program where you can order food to be delivered via a school lunch provider that partners with local restaurants. The meals are about $10 each. |
| Pretty easy info to find on the school websites. |
| There are dozens of schools. What age/grade are you looking at? SSSAS for example has different services for the three divisions, so it depends. |

St. Albans is well known for lunch. It's not just about the food but an important community-building time where students sit with faculty members. I believe Landon has a similar system.
Our kids go to Sidwell. One of the first things they report when they come home is what they ate for lunch. It's all-you-can-eat buffet style. The food is made on site and very delicious (or so I'm told). It's included in tuition. |
| Holton offers lunch and all the girls eat in the dining room together. It’s included in tuition. At least in lower school it’s nice because they all rotate tables. |
| Potomac has one lunch room for LS & MS students, and one for IS and US students. Lunch itself is optional for LS & MS and not included in the tuition. Kids eat together whether they bring lunch or have the school lunch. Lunch is included in the IS and US tuition. |
