| When will they invite students? |
| There are several threads on this already if you search.🔍 |
| Who cares? |
| I’m curious too, but from what I’ve read we’re not likely to hear anything for at least another week. |
The students and parents who are waiting for results. |
| Recommendations were only due on Monday. So I'm not expecting anything this week. |
| Banneker is already doing interviews |
What do you mean? Wasnt everything due 2/2? |
Teachers' recommendations were due 2/9, not 2/2. |
| Search for previous years' interview dates (here in this forum). That's the best info anyone has. |
At least within DCPS, where both the high schools and the middle school teachers work for the same LEA, different middle schools have different due dates for teacher recs. Back when my kid applied our vice principal told me that making sure all the recommendations were in before the (internal) deadline was his responsibility. |
Banneker decides whether to interview each applicant based on their own application, so they can process each application as it becomes complete. Walls can’t do that because they only interview the top X kids, and they can’t know who that is until all of the applications are complete. |
+1 This is the reason. Walls gets close to 1500 applicants a year. They have to narrow it down after the due date for applications. |
And recommendations are heavily (heavily!) weighted in the process, so they can't make any decisions until they have all of them in. |
| I understand the reasons that Walls does it how they do, but it still seems a little bit insane that they don’t even consider test scores but they weight recommendations so highly that a 3 out of 4 rating from one teacher takes you out of the running and you won’t even get an interview. I can imagine this system gives them the most compliant students in the district (since teachers will generally highly recommend students who follow directions well), but not necessarily the ones who are most smart and curious. |
