Write check as POA?

Anonymous
Can I write a check on my mom’s account as POA? The bank has the POA on file. If so, how do you sign it? (It’s a bill for a home repair, using credit card has a fee.)

I always signed "[her name] by [my name], POA"

Sometimes they want ATF (attorney-in-fact) instead of POA; just check with them first.

I always signed my own name with POA and never had an issue. However, what you want to do is get your own name added to the account assuming this is one of your parents. That way, when that person dies the money is automatically available to you rather than going through probate.

Call the bank and ask. We were told exactly how they wanted us to sign checks and if you look on line there are many different ways to do it.
