karate party - where? how old?

My son's turning 4 this year, and our house is a construction zone. We're looking for birthday party ideas - I'd heard that karate parties could be fun and that some even include a chance for the kids to break boards - anyone know if that's true for kids this age? Or know of good places in DC for parties?

I'm not dismissing the idea of the karate party but I did want to say that you shouldn't let the children break any boards. If you don't use proper technique you can really hurt yourself.....all the way from a little swelling to a broken bone.

Heck, I'm a black belt and I've broken tons of boards and on occasion I would mess up (bad form or misjudge distance) and man that hurt!
