FaceTime in public

Why do people do this? Do you find it rude? When my parent does it in public, I tell them to call back when in private. In the gym, a waiting room, a restaurant. It’s like all manners have gone away.

Very annoying, especially without earbuds. No one wants to hear your conversations

How do you feel about people together in public having conversations?

Totally normal as long as they are speaking in normal voices.

Paywall. But I managed to see enough to know it’s another one of those “I grew up poor and you the rich don’t understand us” stories that are getting old.
Poor people are mostly very noisy and it’s bad form. Period.

I see it the same as taking a phone call in public. There are ok places (park, parking lot, mall, hotel lobby) and less ok places (nice restaurants).

Yes I do find it utterly rude as well as very distracting as well.

There is a time ➕ place for everything and FaceTiming should be done in the privacy of one’s home.

It’s annoying as F. Just like using the speaker instead of the handset. No one wants to hear your conversation.

really? that's the excuse?
In my day being poor, you didn't draw attention to yourselves, tried not to be a burden and dressed nicer than you needed to (as much as you could afford) so that you weren't looked down upon. Double all that if you were POC.

It says "lack of social awareness"

Honestly, I think facetime and talking on speaker phone is different. Voice on speaker phone do not sound the same as they do in person, they are more high pitched. People also tend to talk louder on speaker phone than in person.
