| Considering a move to home in Hoover school district |
Solid MS. Not as good as Cabin John down the street. |
| Dedicated teachers, strong PTA. FWIW, I could be wrong, but I believe it’s the only MCPS middle school that requires a language. (Unless the student has Resource in their schedule). Been apart of the school for several years as my two oldest are in Churchill now, and we have been very happy. |
All the MYP middle schools require a language too. |
| Hoover is extremely good. Cabin John is too. They, for example, dominated at MATHCOUNTS yesterday. |
Prob not relevant to OP, but the math phenoms at MathCounts learn math in spite of MCPS, not because of it. Some of those kids work really hard, and they deserve to perform well. |
|
Hoover was great for both of my kids. Highly recommend. The teachers are caring, and the PTA is strong. Churchill has also been great.
|
| Thanks. OP here. My son would be transferring from current public there. He’d be in 7th. Think Hoover would be ok for transfer in? |
| Curious why/how cabin john is better? |
| Getting involved in clubs (athletic or non athletic) is a great way to meet new kids. |

Hoover and CJ both dominated, with Takoma Park magnet close behind and Eastern magnet close too. Yes, it's not because of the school, but club is linked to the school, and the school creates a community that has those kids and families in it. |
