| Anyone try it? I have a nightguard but it’s just not cutting it anymore. I clench so hard all night long - and often during the day while at work - my head, teeth, jaw, and neck ache constantly. |
| I'd be curiously what you learn - I clench too but more widely (neck and shoulders ) which. I assume Botox can't be used for |
| I’ve had it. It helps. But make sure you really need it and that it helps. It seems to be the latest ‘add on’ in profiteering dental offices to upsell. |
| Yes, I do it. For me, it doesn’t stop me from clenching at night. I still do it, but I no longer get the headaches associated with it. YMMV. |
| If you have a narrow/soft jawline, it will impact your face shape. Have you tried physical therapy? Supplements to relax your body (like Magnesium Glycinate or Ashwaganda?) |
I'm interested in the PT. If anything I need more ways to relax vs. exercises. |
Is there any harm in trying it out (besides the cost)? Seems worth it for the potential benefit even if in the end it does nothing. |
| Just be careful because it can give you jowls. The muscles they are botoxing provide a lot of midface support. It’s aged me tremendously (although the effect was temporary). |
| I do it. It helps immensely!!! |
OP here. have you experienced any of the side effects others have mentioned? e.g., jowls or other change in face shape? |
| I did muscle relaxants, physical therapy, and a night guard for TMJ. Botox has been like a miracle for me. I go to Eugenia Prokopets for mine. The first set of injections was a little painful because my muscles were so tight. By the third round in within two years, I was getting lasting improvement and experiencing less discomfort with the injections. It did thin out my face a bit but not in a way that I find cosmetically unacceptable. |
|
It works but only for 3 months.
I have a square face. Definitely noticed my jaw got smaller and flabby skin gathered around my jowls. Yay. I now take amitriptyline for a bad back and it somehow calmed my need to grind my teeth. I still wear a night guard but the meds helped. |
What’s the cost? |
| It's been recommended to me by multiple dentists, and I'd love to try it but the out of pocket cost that I was quoted seemed crazy to me, something like 1600 just for the initial shots. |
| Following - wow, I had no clue about the jowls! |
