I know nothing about wine except to know I like it
I want to learn more, in particular about red wines. Can you recommend a place in the DC area with good wine tastings, instructions, etc. Ideally I’d like to get a basic education and then have the opportunity to return to broaden my knowledge. I’d prefer to stick closer to DC/immediate suburbs than a Leesburg or MoCo vineyard. Thanks! |
Total Wine classes are pretty good. They cover different regions each time. $25/class.
Go get a wine flight at screwtop in Arlington. They have a bunch of pre-selected flights or you can talk to the bartender/wine expert about what flavors you might like.
Screw top or Verre would be good choices. Might also check with the wine cabinet in Vienna or chain bridge cellars in McLean. Oh, and Arrowine! Get on their mailing list and you'll get invited to free tastings. (It's good to buy something afterward.)
Italian Store in Arlington also has wine tasting. Not sure it's every night, but it was there last night (Friday) and free.
