| Thanks, what just came up looks chili. |
| I have added peanut butter and chocolate to chili before- it’s in quite a few recipes. You don’t add much, but I personally like the depth of flavor. |
| I always add a bit of cocoa powder to my chili, so this doesn't strike me as all that weird. Mole often has both chocolate and either sesame or pumpkin seeds in it, and chili is mole-adjacent, so yeah, putting chocolate and peanut butter in small amounts sounds good to me. |
| Is this another tiktok trend? I would say I'm so sick of this but I think food trends are timeless. The aspic trend. the canning trend. the cereals trend. the blancmange trend. Let's just say I'm sick of how stupid the tiktok ones are whilst thinking they are so novel. |
| Peanut butter in chili is common. Unfortunately, I knew someone with a peanut allergy who died from eating chili at a restaurant that didn’t disclose that there was peanut butter in there. It was in the 1980s. |
I think ground peanuts is more common in chilli, especially vegetarian chilli. So, peanut butter would be a handy shortcut. |
| I almost always put cocoa powder in my chili so this doesn’t seem like a stretch to me. I have a dairy allergy and we use a few peanut allergic folks in our orbit, so I wouldn’t do it, but I could see it working to improve the dish. |

We never use cocoa or chocolate or candy. We do sometimes add peanuts, but not peanut butter.
We started to add peanuts when DC was small only because Ped said to have DC regularly consume small amounts of various tree nuts and peanuts. |

Don't do this to any chili you are serving to people outside your family.
You will end up killing someone by anaphylaxis eventually |
| Peanut butter is used in a lot of african dishes. That sounds really good, OP. I'm going to try it. |
| I’ve had ground peanuts in chili and frequently make Nigella Lawson’s chili mole recipe—it’s always a huge hit. So I can see peanuts and chocolate being really tasty! I might try it. |

Just so long as you don't forget to disclose it! My son is deathly allergic to peanuts, and he probably wouldn't think to ask about a chili... |
| My 80 year old dad is allergic to peanuts and won't eat chili because he always says people used to put peanut butter in it. I thought it was a relic of his childhood but everything old is new again I guess! |
