“John R. Lewis High School, located roughly four miles away from the crime scene, temporarily directed students and staff to “shelter in place” in response to the shooting. Preliminary reports suggested that those involved had a connection to the high school, but that is not yet confirmed, Katzman said.“ I hope all students are okay. |
| I thought they only create leaders there with their million dollar leadership program. |
| As a teacher shelter in place is not scary at all. Nothing even changes within the building except nobody from the outside can enter during that time - ie no visitors, no parents picking up kids. It’s just til whatever activity in the area is resolved. Most of the time we wouldn’t even know inside the building because class just continues. |

By Lewis connected incident you mean an incident close enough to Lewis to trigger a shelter in place order at the school.
My kid went to Fox Mill ES. There were two bank robberies at the bank near the school that triggered shelter in place. Neither was associated with the school. So what you are saying is that something happened close enough to Lewis that the school limited movement for safety. There is no actual connection to the school. |
Umm, read the quote from the article. Who are we going to believe you or our lying eyes! |
|
And yes, I read the report. Even if the individuals are students at the school, their status as students is not the cause of the shelter in place. Their poor choices made outside of school, four miles away from the school, caused the shelter in place.
Teenagers do dumb things. Some are involved in gangs. Some speed by a lot on the street in front of the school and kill kids with their cars. Some drink and drive. Some OD on drugs. None of it is good, much of it comes from a combination of immaturity, rebellion, and lack of a stable home environment. |
Are you referencing the “not yet confirmed” part? |
You are blaming the school?

Saratoga Elementary was on a temporary shelter in place due to the police activity - it’s pretty close to the housing project where the shooting happened and the suspects scattered in every direction afterward.
From what I understand, Lewis was also put on a temporary shelter in place because people trying to cover their faces with ski masks were seen around the school right after the shooting. Also the people involved in the shooting may have been Lewis students. But there wasn’t a shooting at Lewis so it seemed to be a precaution. |
I read the article. I have no ties to this school but don't know why you even posted this. It sounds like it was a robbery and the house could be in the district. The victim was obviously an adult. Why are you trying to connect this to the school so bad? Let these people have their privacy, especially if the victim is somehow affiliated with the school. You don't know who went to the school, if anyone, and it is none of our business. |
PP stated there is no actual connection to the school even though the quote from the article says it seems that there was. Unless she knows that the shooters had no involvement with Lewis, she’s just expressing her hopes not grounded in anything. The article may turn out to be wrong, but I’m sure that the poster claiming there was no connection is not in the know. |
| The person—possibly the shooter but it was unclear— called by name by police on the scanner is a Woodson student, so adjust your narratives accordingly. |
It’s not paranoia if they really are out to get you! Amazing to me that there are people like you in the world who believe the school system and the safety of children are not our business. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right. |
The school went on lockdown. Schools go on lockdowns when crimes happen in neighborhoods. You sound like the paranoid one, posting crazy things. |
From the FFXNow article: “Preliminary reports suggested that those involved had a connection to the high school, but that is not yet confirmed, Katzman said.” You really need to learn how to read. And this isn’t even some right wing site, it is a local news operation. Some people really fight to live an ignorance-is-bliss life. No wonder we elect the leaders we do. |
