Waitlist v Waitpool for k?

Is there a difference or is this just semantics? Other parents are saying there are two groups at each school but that seems odd?
Anonymous
They are the same - just semantics.

I thought it was more priority WL vs WL. Those schools that use it do give you an indication you are priority if you want to stay on it.

How do they indicate that? Guess we didnt get the notice hahah

Apparently wait pool is for kids that should have gotten in but there were not enough spots for some reason, and waitlist is more truly waitlist. Apparently there’s higher chance if you get “wait pool”. Trinity, Chapin, HM have wait pools

Can you tell from the letter if you are on Wait Pools or waitlist?

The official-ish answer on this from EMA is that wait lists are ranked and wait pools are not: https://www.admission.org/answer/what-is-the-difference-between-a-waitlist-and-a-wait-pool

I would think "wait list" is priority over "wait pool". Wait list makes it sound like they ordered what kids would get in next.
