| The positions for dept chairs had been closed a while ago. Does this mean they had been filled already? Anyone knows any names? Did they start interviewing teachers yet? Are dept chairs involved in the interviews? I am thinking of applying but it is such a wild card, applying to be part of non existing department. |
| You should apply. You might even end up teaching my kid next year. |
| I don't know if they are hiring but I heard that the internal applications were opened. I know people who are very interested in teaching at Western, I suspect that there will be a lot of competition for the positions. |
| Interviews started for the Western HS Department Chairs on Wednesday 2/5/2026, the weather is not helping the process. |
| Thanks for the info!! |
| I know someone who works in HR, there's been a lot of interest. I suspect it's because a lot of Fairfax County teachers live in Loudoun and Prince William counties and this would be an easy commute. |
| All the Department Chairs for Western HS should be hired by the end of this week (2/13/2026). Teachers will be next up! |
| Thanks for sharing!! I applied for a teacher position but haven’t heard back. Hopefully!! |
|
I applied from a department chair position and never heard back other than interviews would be scheduled soon (this was January). I also applied for a teacher position and have heard nothing.
This fits with my FCPS job application experience - 50% of the interviews that I was given I received zero follow-up on not being selected. Fortunately, I have a current school that I love. |
| Skyview subject Teacher interviews start on Tuesday 2/17/26, the 1st round of candidates have been notified of these interviews. |
Do or will they tell the candidates how many kids have actually opted into Skyview for 2026-27? If so, please share. |

Going off on a tangent here:
The principals,APs, and teachers are probably more frustrated with Reid than DCUM. Who in their right mind would have created a roll out for a new school with so much uncertainty? |
Do you know if submitting through the system was what was expected? Or should teachers have sent resumes to principal/school directly? I have not heard back and just want to make sure my resume was received. Thanks!! |
I think the department heads were hand-picked by the APs, and then the department heads are hand-picking their teachers. Possibly a jaded take. |
I guess it makes sense..
