
Does it work in avoiding too much tearing or an episiotomy? I'm at 33 weeks and my DH and I were thinking about making this part of our nightly routine, but I was wondering how effective it actually is. Either way, I am sure it will be fun... ![]() |
Studies have shown that it is effective.
When I was delivering my 2nd, I did it without drugs. The nurse started doing a perineal massage so that I would not tear. When I was delivering I felt almost a burning sensation as that area was being stretched. Good luck |
It is effective. I did it for my 3rd - delivered naturally, 10.5 lbs and no tearing. I didn't like doing the perineal massage however, it was kind of a drag and a little uncomfortable. You really have to massage hard and try to stretch the area. But that being said - it does work and it sure beats stitches! Go for it! |
