Fresh chocolates not stored in fridge - safe to eat?

Anonymous
My brother brought back fresh chocolates from Europe for me but they have not been refridgerated for 2 weeks. Are they safe to eat? They are not regular chocolate, but contain fresh butter/cream. They were in a box, but the box is not airtight. I did some searches on line and only found websites saying fresh chocolates have a "limited" shelf life but it doesn't say how long "limited" is.

Oooh, are they Leonidas? The best. I would eat them -- sickness be damned!

Were they sold on the shelf and not refrigerated? My guess is that they are ok.

They were not in the box when purchased, my brother hand said he selected them from a glass case and they put them in the box for him.

No, not safe at all. For the love of God, protect yourself and your loved ones by immediately bringing all suspect chocolate to my house. I promise to dispose of it safely.
