Western High School - what happens to current Westfield students?

Ds is a soph at Westfield, I have heard three conflicting scenarios when the new Western high school opens - 1. Existing kids will get to choose whether to stay and finish or go to new HS (this sounds least like the FCPS I know) 2. Existing students will stay at Westfield and finish there, new students go to Western, or 3. hard cut over and all assigned students go there regardless of what grade

I don’t see any hard facts, or posts about this that arent possibly deep in boundary review thread. Did I miss something from FCPS or is this still unknown? Apologies in advance if I’m missing this

If he’s currently a sophomore he will finish at Westfield. Western will only have a Freshman and Sophomore class next school year. They are letting kids decide to opt in to those classes.

Westfields rising 9th and 10th graders had the choice to stay at Westfield or opt in to Western. That decision had to be made two weeks ago. Rish 11th and 12th graders stay at Westfield.

I believe that next year, as in 2027-2028, the students whose ES were moved to Western can opt out of attending Western and stay at Westfield. As of 2028-2029 all students attend the HS they are in boundary for.
