Does anyone else no do snack time at all for their kids? My oldest is in K and her teacher said something to me about her never eating at snack time and saving her snack (usually a cheese stick or apple) for lunch. Her and her sister both always clear their plates at meals, but if they’re ever randomly hungry I give them a smaller portion of leftovers.
Anyone else operate this way? |
| My family doesn’t really snack and I don’t relate at all to the snack moms who always seem to be stuffing crap into their children at all times. Like can’t we just go to the playground and actually play? Do you really have to start breaking out tupperware containers full of pasta and fruit and everything else no matter what time of day? |
| My kids are snackers. One has a super fast metabolism and one is just a bit chunky. It’s much more necessary for the high metabolism kid to snack. |
| It depends on the day with my first grader. During the summer when he's swimming my older kid eats a ton. Right now snacking is rarer but he'll occasionally get hungry on a more active day. |

In the 80's (see other thread) kids ate 3 meals a day and a snack after school.
Other snack times did not exist. |

We were generally a 3 meal and an afterschool snack family, but if there was an opportunity to eat another snack, like a snack time at school or the ice cream man stopped by at the end of their baseball game, they would happily accept another snack.
“Cleating their plate” is problematic though. |
I worked as a camp counselor for preschoolers in the 80’s and helped in the preschool classroom at my elementary school. Morning snack existed in the 80’s. |
