Spring basketball options - Rec

Anonymous
Our 5th grader is loving moco Rec basketball and wants to continue the same sport rather than switching to something else in the spring.

Are there any options go picking up a rec level team in the spring?

Silver Spring/ Chevy Chase area is ideal but could travel.

Time to move your kiddo to AAU. No need doing rec anymore.

Look into PPA

Came to recommend PPA- they have Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons.

Are a lot of local teams that play local leagues in the spring that are more competitive.
Try outs are starting soon for most and most programs have enough teams where kids will make it.
Some local options include ppa, tru2form, dmv rebels. Go to the force one basketball league page (they don't have winter league but have fall and spring) and also 365hbl league and look up 5th grade teams from the last couple season to get a list of names and then look up their instagram pages and/or web sites to get more info

If you are in Moco you should check out the following

Classics
Tru2Form
PPA
Germantown Lady Panthers

Hurry up as they will be having tryouts soon!

Check out more than one.

The pricing can be wildly different. Some of that might be attributed to the particular experience offered -- coaching, camps/development opportunities, peer group, etc. -- but not always all. Pay attention to the planned/likely locations of events. Ask about and note the additional expenses (game/tournament entrance fees, uniform/equipment, etc.).

Consider where your DC might fit on their roster (playing time, position) and if they would respond well to the coaching/playing style (some actually do well with stricter approaches, but it's not for everone, and development can actually be better for many without going all Cobra Kai). Realize that an organization may have multiple team levels within a particular age group -- seek info on the differences among them and the opportunity for internal roster moves. Though harder with so many variables, try to identify both the current level of planned competition and the team aims for future years.

Know what you're seeking for your DC and find an organization/team where both they and you/your family will be reasonably comfortable.
