Is it possible to cover a leather armchair with fabric?

An aunt died and left me a few pieces of furniture. I love this beautiful leather mission style armchair but I hate leather. Super impractical for our house. Is it possible to have it recovered with fabric?

Probably yes with mission style furniture

Probably yes, but you'll lose a lot of the durability. I've never heard someone say that leather is impractical, it's by far the superior material over fabric.

Absolutely. You could have a really nice slipcover made. Or if it’s just leather cushions on wood frames, have covers made. My 83 year old mom would totally do this for me if I were in your shoes. She’s a wiz at sewing.

It’s just too nice for us. Two little kids plus two pets.

I would keep it until/if it gets ruined, and talk to someone about reupholstering it then.

No. Just buy what you want.

Leather is super durable and much easier to keep clean than fabric couches.

Do a slipcover, not a complete recover.

Not my cats. They’ve ruined two leather chairs. They don’t seem to care about the fabric furniture.
