WILL FCPS BE CLOSED 4-21ST?

We are having a special election. So would schools be closed again?

Stop

Most likely, since schools will be used as polling stations.

Special election for what?

I see:

February 3, in Caroline County
February 10, in Alexandria and Arlington
March 3, is a special election for the Braddock District School Board Member
March 10, an election in Woodbrige
April 14, that seems to be in Charles City County

Ah, this is it: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5701097-virginia-special-election-redistricting/

A special election on April 21 regarding redistricting: so far, this has not been approved, but the legislation was introduced.

What special election? Why can't we leave schools open and use the gyms for voting like we used to?

There's currently an injunction in Tazewell, so it remains to be seen whether it will even happen.

April-

The way this post was written, it is very unclear that the OP was asking about April 21.

It reads as though the OP was asking about the 4th through the 21st-- though of what month, it was unclear.

If you follow the news, you would know what it means.

I'm not sure this is totally accurate, but here is my understanding:

The Va legislature wants to gerrymander our current 6Dem5GOP Congressional seats to 10Dem/1 GOP. There is a constitutional amendment that says it can only be done with an intervening election. There is dispute over whether 2025 election is an "intervening election." A judge has said it does not meet the standard and the vote to ignore the amendment on 4/21 may not occur.

I'm sure it will be appealed. So, depending on court cases we MAY or may NOT have an election day on 4/21.

I've no idea what the turnout will be if they have one or if schools would be closed.

IF this special election is approved, then yes, schools will be closed on a Tuesday in April. Apparently there are some hot button issues also on the ballot that would involve changes to the state constitution. These issues could bring the crazies out.

The good news is that if this election does happen AND the redirecting is approved, then the planned election for June 16 goes away. There wouldn’t be enough time to set up new ballots if redistricting is passed in April. School would be open with no disruption during the last week of school.

So 40 days off plus 3 this week makes 43?

There have been 3 snow days, right? What would be the other days?

I do follow the news, but I am also intelligent enough to write dates and other numbers clearly and accurately.

In no way is writing a date as "4-21st" correct. You could have written 04/21/26, 4/21/26, 4/21, April 21, or even 21/04/26. If you wanted to be informal, but still clear, you could have written April 21st. No one who has successfully completed the third grade writes a date as 4-21st.
