DD6 (almost 7) has adhd combined, but adhd inattentive is more obvious. She has made a great improvement on academic reading, writing and math compared to a year ago, but she is still struggling and below average. A year ago, she could not even read any words or do simple math. Now, she can read simple words (mainly one or two syllabus), write a tiny bit and she can do simple math (5+6, 17-5 like that). She mainly struggles in spelling, writing, cannot read math problem (especially in word formats),and read harder books. She often says "I forgot" in class when asked to answering questions or spelling words. She loses focus easily in class.
She is about to do follow up with children hospital developmental pediatrician soon when she is 7. Please provide me tips if I should ask developmental pediatrician to do any special testing or evaluation like for intelligence or learning disability. She is on the young side, I really hate to do that, but should she on medication to help focus? She is not that hyperactive.
Thank you.
