MD $25/h min wage

This will be spectacular for pricing and inflation:

R.I.P. MD businesses. Imagine having to pay some teenager the equivalent of a $52,000 per year salary to scoop ice cream, or pay that salary to a cashier in some bookstore who sits around 70% of the time.

Americans are and will be so massively overpaid. The American economy will collapse under this level of labor cost. I guess the college educated admin is going to need to make $200k/year soon just so there is enough gap between them vs the teenager pouring their coffee.

What a stupid idea. Hyper accelerate labor costs, which in the end do nothing except raise prices leading to no gains in purchasing power for min wage employees. All the increases in wages will do is raise prices and ruin everyone's savings. Why do Dems love throwing gas on the inflation fire?

Imagine a daycare worker making a living wage. A home healthcare nurse and assisted living techs who have to get an education and deal with the physically glueing job of moving patients and taking them to the bathroom. Them being able to afford a life without food stamps.

And why do you think almost doubling the min wage will do that? If labor costs explode what do you think businesses will do in order to remain economically viable? They will increase their prices, so in the end a min wage worker's purchasing power goes nowhere. All you end up doing is causing a whole bunch of inflation, which is terrible for the economy.

Imagine not having your tax dollars going to subsidize the business owner who isn't paying a living wage.

Again, why will $25/h guarantee "a living wage"? If I am a landlord, I'd immediately raise rent from $1250 per mo to $1800 per mo if we are going to increase wages for pouring coffee by that much. It is like Dems have zero concept of wage price inflation. Increases in min compensation will provide "a living wage" only if you make the grand stupid assumption that all else will remain equal.

Newsflash, it won't. If labor costs explode, guess what happens. $5 coffee now costs $10. A Chipotle burrito that cost $12 now costs $23. A burger that cost $18 now costs $33. In the end no economic gains are made. All you did was cause huge inflation.

This will be a business killer.

Jobs that are very difficult already tend to pay well above minimum wage.

Yep, and absolutely awful for teenagers and others trying to get onto the ladder.

We already saw restaurant prices rise after the fight for $15 was a success elsewhere.

Liberals love to ignore basic economics. They just double and triple down.

Good. So many businesses have no business staying in business. I have had 3 jobs where working cost me more than staying home.

I wouldn't worry about it in DMV. We cannot find service workers even for $30-$40 an hour.

You can always pay more taxes, as an option. to cover these absurd wages. Have you seen the McDonald on the pike? My understanding is that it is the sign of things to come. Order online. Order on apps. Pick up your food. Hire bare min. of people. More of this ahead due to these crazy min. wage policies.
