Has using AI (ChatGPT etc…) reduced the number of hours you work?

Has AI made you much more efficient at doing your job? Is it helping you work less hours?

No.

Just like every other labor saving invention it may at times mean I get more done but it creates work of its own and it just raises expectations of output

no, i work the same amount of hours but get more work done , however it allows me to not have to hire an assistant for writing and jr engineers to do mundane coding tasks

It's made me more efficient, but I don't work fewer hours, I do work I couldn't have done before.

Excellent analogy.
I don't have the kind of repetitive, summarizing work job where AI could save time.
If I did have those parts of work I would definitely use it.

I mostly deal with novelty but since I draw upon my own experience (patterns, my intelligence) of course artificial intelligence could spit out the same insights that I do but the input data (cleanliness, depth of data) does not really exist anywhere.

It helps me edit. It helps me write BS executive reports. It’s so good at BS.

Helps me write reviews, processes, procedures and operations documents.

It helps me get less headaches, but it doesn’t necessarily make me work less. I just output more.

They're solving Erdos problems and helped build Claude Cowork in two weeks, but your job is too novel?

Can you elaborate?

OP here. I realize my question should say “fewer hours” not less!

No. Not at all.

No. Who is allowed to use AI for their job?!

WSJ just had an article about this today. Something like 40% of workers said it saved them less than 2 hours (including 0 hours) per week. Interestingly that amount of time saved seemed to increase among respondents at the executive level.

It has helped me write more professionally and polished.

I usually draft text and paste in AI and it will polish it up for me. I don’t paste directly but use some of it so it sounds more professional.

It has helped me a lot.
