NW ES Principal/Faculty Standards

Anonymous
Does DCPS set high standards and expectations for principals & faculty? What about a good year-end review process? Our NW ES Principal seems to be under the radar (very different from the previous principal); I don't see her out and about, minimal engagement, not seen at afterschool activities/ community gatherings etc. I'm not seeing the leadership and dedication that the previous principal demonstrated so effectively. And some teachers seem to be winging it and doing the bare minimum -- no homework, not grading tests, no constructive feedback. So that leads me to wonder if DCPS is setting standards and expectations appropriately.
Thoughts? And is there anything I can do?

Lol you can go private. Dcps will not be up to your standards. Central office is happy to let upper nw do its thing and focus on the actual kids and schools in crisis.

Snort. DCPS is not doing anything for kids in crisis either. They're just an excuse to ignore UMC kids.

More than non-title 1 schools. They get way more staff and money overall for less students. Not that it’s not deserved but I do think just staff isn’t enough for high risk students.

It all depends on what the staff are doing....

What are you trying to imply?

DCPS judges principles on the how their obedience to Central. They want compliant principals.

There are some exceptional principals in DCPS who can toe that line and still have the energy and capability to provide what students and staff needs.

The rest are insipid but Central is pleased with them.

This is also part of the transition to Relay. Principals are told to fall in line even when it’s not best for kids.

Elementary school faculty?

What exactly is it you feel you deserve and you are not getting?
