I found several federal job postings on LinkedIn that do not appear on USAJOBS. Below is one example; it is a position under the GS pay plan.
This raises a few questions: Are all federal jobs required to be posted on USAJOBS? If not, where else are these positions typically advertised? Should I be searching multiple sources, in addition to USAJOBS, when looking for federal jobs? it depends by agency. some agencies don't use usajobs at all-- nsa, cia, frb, to name a few. some use it for some of their jobs.
i don't think there is a requirement for an agency to use usajobs for all their listings. |
Yes. But I don't think anyone uses commercial sites, they just have their own individual agency sites. This has also been popular among tech orgs doing direct hire. |
I think you are right, last night I applied for one position on LinkedIn, which redirects to agency website. At least they advertise their jobs on commercial sites. |
| No, there is no requirement that an agency use usajobs. Some agencies use it, some don't and for some it may depend on the department. I have been in an agency that required the use and then the Deputy head of the agency decided it wasn't a good way to find candidates and said we couldn't use it and then after that person left we went back to using it. For some technical jobs, agencies may even advertise in specialist journals to find candidates. |
