AP Comp Sci Principles

My kid wants to take this course as a 9th grader. Can someone explain what this course is about and how hard it gets for a 9th grader?

It should be easy. My two kids took it in 9th grade and got straight As. The first took it during the pandemic, had no guidance whatsoever for the second semester's coding project, didn't take it seriously and received a low AP score, since the project is part of the exam score. My second took it last year, and got a 5 without breaking a sweat. Just tell your kid that they need to produce more than 50 lines of code for their project

It's not a hard course. DD took it to see if CS is something she would like, since DH is something of a wiz at this stuff. Unfortunately, she takes after me. Got an A in the course and a 4 on the test, but with a fair bit of effort.

It’s python or java?

I believe that Principles is python. Comp A is Java.

It's crap. Python-lite. If you want your kids to actually learn how to code - look elsewhere!
