Online PreCalc

Anonymous
There is a possibility DS school won't offer PreCalc next year; they are an IB school. Has anyone had their students take online PreCalc? He won't qualify for an IB Math class, he will be a Senior.

How does the whole online teaching setup work? Can students still reach out for in person help or do we set him up with a tutor right away just in case?

Sorry if the questions seem dumb, just trying to do it right by my very anxious student.

According to our SSD, the online course meets for one hour for synchronous lessons one night a week. The rest is on your own. I am worried because of timing with sports. But if that isn't an issue for you, it's probably okay so long as he doesn't get senioritis.

We are at an IB school and my child is taking AP Calculus AB online this year. Not the same, but probably very similar.

As previous poster said, it meets once a week for an hour on Wednesday. You will find out the time once the school year begins. There are 4 in-person exams on Wednesday at the end of the quarter. Our exams are at Westfield HS as that is where the teacher is located. You have to attend every class unless you have an excused absence. Even then you are only allowed 3 before you may be removed from the class.

My child's teacher has been generally available when needed.
