Cross-posted from Health forum, where several people said peri started like this for them.
I keep waking up at 3ish overheating with an elevated heart rate. I'm not sweaty, so it's not night sweats, and it's not dependent on my cycle. It's almost every night. I can throw the covers off, cool off for a couple minutes and then usually get back to sleep, but I'd love to figure out wtf is going on so I can sleep uninterrupted. Last round of labs at annual (November 2025) were all normal, not sick with covid/flu etc... I sleep in linen sheets, a cotton blanket, and a light comforter in a linen duvet, no clothing. My room is about 60-62 degrees. Same mattress I've had for years (it's a Purple), so no new changes there. The only change I've made is trying to lose a bit of weight and not eating after 7. What the heck?! |

Yep.
Basically, you're on a hormone roller coaster. Tests are kind of irrelevant because they can't pick up on the roller coaster. Symptoms confirm peri. The 3 AM wakeup is famous. Night sweats and hot flashes are probably the most well-known symptoms (and some doctors won't treat the others if you don't way you're having them). Other stuff: join pain, strange smells, rage days, frozen shoulder, issues seeing at night, sleep issues. The good news is that HRT helps many people deal with the symptoms. It doesn't work for everyone, though. The bad news is some that doctors are dismissive or aren't up-to-date on research. Welcome to the sub. We get it. We're with you. |
| Maybe keep track of what you are eating, how much and water intake. See if that matters. But welcome to the club! |
