DC is U12, likely on track for ECNL RL next year. They went to practices/ID sessions for a few clubs last year because they wanted to get away from a toxic coach that was staying with their old team. Got an offer from one of the clubs that uses more of a pool system. I suspect they would have started out on second team, but not far off from first team. At another club they went to a practice and got feedback that they can hang with first team but would probably be placed on second. Didn’t attend official tryouts because ended up with an offer for first team from a third club which is where they play now.
Next year is U13, so teams will theoretically be expanding. RL team at current club might still be the right fit for next year, but might not due to a few reasons out of DC’s control. Would it be weird to circle back to the other clubs from last year before their tryouts? Do we ask to attend a practice again? I suspect those clubs will lose several to higher leagues and DC could compete with their current second teamers for a RL spot. Or does DC just show up to their tryouts and hope coaches remember? I assume it will be different coaches for U13 so not sure how to get on new coaches’ radar.
